This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use the Portora mobile application and web platform (the "Service"), and informs You about Your privacy rights and how applicable laws protect You.

1. Interpretation and Definitions

Definitions

  • Account means a unique authenticated account created for You to access Our Service or parts of Our Service.
  • Application refers to Portora, the mobile software application provided by the Company.
  • Companyrefers to Portora ("We", "Us", or "Our").
  • Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
  • Service refers to the Application, the Website, and related backend APIs.
  • Website refers to Portora Web, accessible at https://portora-web.vercel.app.

2. Personal Data We Collect

When You register, create, and manage Your digital portfolio or resume with Portora, We collect the following categories of information:

A. Account & Authentication Information

  • Email Address: Used for account registration, authentication, password resets, and critical account communications.
  • Display Name: Your chosen public first and last name displayed on Your portfolio header and resume.
  • Username: A unique handle chosen by You to generate Your public portfolio URL (e.g., portora-web.vercel.app/username).
  • User Identifier (UID): A unique internal account identifier generated by Firebase Authentication to bind Your profile, projects, and media assets to Your account securely.

B. Professional & Career Information

You may optionally provide professional details to build Your portfolio and export Your resume, including:

  • Professional headline and bio / summary.
  • Technical skills and areas of expertise.
  • Work history (company names, job titles, employment types, locations, dates, and role descriptions).
  • Educational background (institutions, degrees, fields of study, dates, grades, and descriptions).
  • Showcase projects (project titles, role descriptions, tech stack, repository links, and live project URLs).
  • Social and professional links (such as GitHub, LinkedIn, personal website, and contact channels).
  • Portfolio design preferences (selected templates, themes, accents, and section visibility preferences).

C. Profile Photos & Media Assets

If You choose to upload a profile avatar, the photo is uploaded to and hosted by our cloud media provider (Cloudinary). This enables fast, responsive image delivery on Your public portfolio page and in Your rendered PDF resume.

D. Generated Resumes

When You request a resume export, Portora compiles Your career data into a PDF document. These files may be temporarily cached on cloud storage infrastructure (Cloudinary) to enable in-app viewing, fast downloads, and native sharing.

E. Usage, Diagnostic & Technical Identifiers

  • Interaction & Screen Analytics: We collect aggregated feature interaction events (such as sections created, templates selected, and screens viewed) via Firebase Analytics to understand how our tools are used and improve usability.
  • Crash Reports: When an unexpected error or crash occurs, Firebase Crashlytics collects technical diagnostics, stack traces, and device environment details to help Us diagnose and fix stability issues.
  • Advertising Identifier (AD_ID): Included via Google Play Services Measurement dependencies for analytics attribution and measurement. Portora does not serve third-party advertisements, does not engage in cross-app advertising tracking, and does not sell user data.

3. Optional AI Bio Writer

Portora provides an optional AI-assisted Bio Writer to help You draft professional summaries:

  • When You choose to use this feature, the rough notes or draft text You submit are transmitted to Portora's backend API.
  • The backend securely forwards this text to the Google Gemini AI service to generate a polished professional bio.
  • The generated bio is returned to Your device. It is saved to Your profile only if You review and choose to apply or save it.
  • Portora does not persistently store raw AI prompts or unapplied generations on its backend servers.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on trusted third-party cloud service providers to support essential application infrastructure:

  • Google Firebase: Used for secure user authentication (Firebase Auth), cloud database hosting (Cloud Firestore), usage analytics (Firebase Analytics), and crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics).
  • Cloudinary: Used for cloud hosting of profile avatar images and caching compiled PDF resume files.
  • Google Gemini API: Used to provide generative AI processing when You use the optional AI Bio Writer.
  • Vercel: Used to host our companion web application, public portfolio web pages, and server-side APIs.

These service providers process relevant information solely to deliver the requested application services on Our behalf.

5. Data Security

We prioritize the security of Your Personal Data. All communications between the Portora mobile application, our web servers, and third-party services are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Access to production databases and media services is restricted by strict server-side authentication and security rules.

6. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain Your account, career data, and uploaded media for as long as Your Account remains active. You maintain full control over Your data and may permanently delete Your account and associated information at any time:

  • In-App Deletion: Open the Portora app, navigate to Settings → Delete Account, and confirm Your credentials.
  • Web Deletion Resource: Submit a self-service or verified deletion request via our dedicated Account Deletion Page.

When an account is deleted, Portora initiates a permanent deletion pipeline that purges Your user profile and project documents from Cloud Firestore, removes Your profile avatar and cached resume files from Cloudinary, and permanently deletes Your credentials from Firebase Authentication. Operational logs and crash diagnostics collected by underlying platform services are retained in accordance with the respective provider policies.
